Scribble Quest for kids aged 8-11

Each day is a three-hour session from 10am-1pm.
Come and join us for this holiday creative writing course for 8-11 year olds - where children can improve their creative writing and enjoy some screen-free socialising time as a bonus!
They will be taught by our brilliant tutors who are qualified, experienced and published writers. There will be a maximum of 8-10 children per group to optimise learning time.
Over four separate three-hour sessions, we will take your child on an adventure that will finish with them having written a starter for their story - complete with characters, setting, plot and opening chapters. Each session will be varied and engaging, with plenty of fun activities and breaks to keep kids having fun whilst they learn to write.
The course will be structured as follows:
Day 1: Creating your characters. We will spend the first day looking at what makes a memorable character, looking at character profiles and visualising with drawing prompts. Attendees will leave with three key characters for their story.
Day 2: Building world and setting. Using prompts and challenges around senses, map-drawing and postcards, attendees will leave this session with their setting(s) fleshed out.
Day 3: Plot and adventure. Using a range of mini-lessons and challenges on plot structure, character journey mapping and trouble-generators, they will leave with their story outline ready.
Day 4: Writing and sharing. We will focus on how to start a story in the strongest way and design our titles and cover art, as well as drafting opening content. Attendees will leave with a strong outline for their story, confident in their next steps as writers.
