Summer Holiday 2026 Online Courses
This summer we're running two small-group online writing courses led by Inkhead Director and Lead Specialist Tutor John Sheil. Designed to inspire young writers and build confidence, each course runs over three consecutive days.
All summer courses are limited to just six pupils, allowing every child to receive individual feedback and encouragement.
Mystery Island: A Summer Writing Adventure
Ages 8-11
3rd-5th August 2026

Join us for three days of imaginative storytelling as we explore a mysterious island filled with secrets, clues and unexpected twists. Through games, discussion and guided writing activities, young writers will create memorable characters, build suspense and craft their own exciting mystery story.

11+ Writing Boost: Build Confidence Before September
Ages 9-11
17th-19th August 2026

This focused three-day course is designed to help pupils produce more confident, engaging and well-structured writing. Students will learn how to plan quickly, create vivid descriptions and develop compelling ideas, all while receiving personalised feedback in a small-group setting.
An ideal confidence boost before the new school year. Best suited to children entering Years 5 and 6, although confident writers entering Year 4 are also welcome.
Autumn term 2026 Online After-School Programmes
This Autumn term we're running three small-group online writing courses led by experienced and popular Inkhead Tutors Emma Gosnell and Lorna Briggs.
Each programme consists of weekly 1-hour sessions on the same day and time, held via Zoom, designed to build specific key skills over the course of the term.
As with our summer courses, all three programmes are limited to just six pupils, allowing every child to receive a strong level of individual attention.
Online Creative Writing Programme: Midnight Mysteries Autumn Masterclass
Ages 7-10

Join us this autumn for Midnight Mysteries, an exciting creative writing masterclass where young writers will investigate strange events, uncover hidden clues and create their own gripping mystery stories.
Across ten weeks, pupils will explore the essential building blocks of great storytelling through imaginative games, discussion and dedicated writing time. Along the way they will develop vivid characters, atmospheric settings, suspense, plot twists and satisfying endings, while building confidence in expressing their own ideas.
Our online masterclasses are designed to foster a genuine love of creative writing in a warm, encouraging environment. With a maximum of just six children, every pupil receives individual feedback, guidance and plenty of opportunities to share their work and develop as a writer.
Whether your child already loves writing or simply has a vivid imagination waiting to be unlocked, this course offers the perfect opportunity to develop creativity, confidence and lifelong writing skills.
About Lorna
Lorna is a qualified and highly experienced English teacher with over ten years' experience teaching pupils across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, both in schools and online. Passionate about literature and storytelling, she creates calm, supportive lessons where every child feels confident to contribute, take creative risks and enjoy the writing process. Alongside teaching English, Lorna also runs creative sewing workshops for young people, reflecting her belief that imagination and creativity flourish across many different forms of expression.

About Emma
Emma is an Oxford English graduate and one of Inkhead's most experienced online 11+ tutors. Before moving into education, she spent many years writing and editing for The Telegraph and also developed English language teaching resources for Pearson while living in Hong Kong.
Since 2016, Emma has helped pupils of all abilities develop their reading and writing skills, preparing many for competitive 11+ entrance examinations. She combines academic expertise with a warm, encouraging teaching style, helping children build confidence while developing the sophisticated vocabulary, comprehension and creative writing skills that set exceptional candidates apart.
