Inkhead are a group of writers who have been
running creative writing workshops for children between 8 and 16
for the last four years. The results speak for themselves. We
have had three winners in a national writing competition and
four runners up, other children have won school writing
competitions and been singled out for the quality of their
stories. Teachers have reported that children who have taken one
of our courses have much more confidence when writing and
stretch themselves to use more sophisticated language.
Parents are encouraged by the their children’s
enthusiasm for Inkhead’s workshops but most importantly, every
young person who has come to one of our classes has come away
with a positive attitude to writing and their ability to express
themselves through the written word.
Our aim is to encourage children to write the stories
they want to write and to show them how to use description,
dialogue, characterisation, suspense, showing not telling and
other writing skills in their work. We want them to love writing
as much as we do and to give them feedback and inspiration while
they craft their stories.
